Minutes of Selectmen Meeting
Annual Town Meeting
May 2, 2000


Present:  Daniel Webster, Judy Murdoch, Peter Jones and Cathy Kuchinski.  Also present Executive Secretary, Winn Davis

7:15 p.m.       Chairman Webster called the meeting order.

Sidewalk paving contract – Century Paving of Fall River was the low bidder in the amount of $69,200.00. Executive Secretary indicated that all their paperwork is in order

MOTION by Judy Murdoch, second by Cathy Kuchinski to award the sidewalk paving contract to Century Paving of Fall River in the amount of $69,200.00.  Voted 4 – 0.

Vision Meeting – Received notice of a Visioning seminar sponsored by the Plymouth County Commissioners on Thursday, May 18th from 9:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Mr. Davis would like to go along with Chief King and Chairman Webster.  If room is available, Cathy Kuchinski and Judy Murdoch would like to attend

Article 10 – South Shore Womens Center – Article had been placed on hold for clarification of amount.  The requested amount is the same as last year. They forwarded back-up information regarding services.  They assisted 344 residents of Hanson in 1999.

MOTION by Judy Murdoch, second by Cathy Kuchinski to recommend Article 10.  Voted 3 – 1 (Webster)

Article 28 – Feasibility Study at Senior Center – Previously held. – Doris Grindle indicated that they would be passing over and would revisit it in the Fall.  

MOTION by Peter Jones, second by Judy Murdoch, to recommend passing over.  Voted 4 – 0.

Article 36 – Plymouth County Hospital subdivision – Chairman Webster indicated that after speaking with Town Counsel, he feels we should pass over until October when a subdivision plan is complete.  

MOTION by Cathy Kuchinski, second by Judy Murdoch to reconsider Article 36.  Voted 4 – 0 to reconsider.

MOTION by Peter Jones, second by Judy Murdoch to pass over Article 36.  Voted 4 – 0 to pass over.

7:25 p.m.       Stephanie McSweeney Arrived.

Fire Chief Retirement – Chairman Webster explained that in light of Town Meeting not funding Article 9 of the Special Town Meeting, Chief Huska has indicated that he will not be retiring at this time.  Mr. Davis indicated that Labor Counsel has been informed that the Retirement Board will not be meeting until May 30th, but has requested they meet sooner to address this matter.
